Arriving at the pier from Bali we had a long taxi journey from where the boat dropped us at Telik Kode to where the Novotel resort was located on Kuta beach. The taxi journey from the pier took us around 2 hours and cost us 399,000IDR (around £20). The hotel is located just slightly out of the main strip of Kuta, Lombok (about 2 kilometres out). However, a taxi service to this area can be provided by the hotel for 50,000OIDR (roughly £2.50) if you want to explore the local area. It was dinner time before we arrived at the Novotel hotel. We walked into the lobby and were greeted by the staff behind the reception desk. It wasn’t long before we were checked in, provided with a welcome drink and getting shown to our room by one of the porters. Walking in to the room, the porter placed our bags down neatly in the corner and explained to us where everything was. He was very helpful and told us just to dial 0 on the telephone if we needed everything. He then wished us a pleasant stay before leaving the room.
The room we had been checked in to was a deluxe suite It was a very decent sized room with sliding doors opening to the bathroom on the left and sliding balcony doors to the right. We had a large king sized bed in the middle of the room, with a flatscreen television on the wall in front.
We were also provided with various complimentary amenities such as two small bottles of water and tea and coffee making facilities. To my surprise it wasn’t only the standard tea we have been given elsewhere, there was actually a small selection of teas such as camomile, English breakfast and my favourite- green tea! Inside the wardrobe, 2 robes and 2 pairs of slippers were provided for our use and there was also a mini bar with soft drinks and beers inside which you could purchase for an additional charge.
Upon checking in, we had been given a list of all the daily activities running at the resort throughout the week. The activity list was pretty vast, with lots going on at various times throughout the day. We definitely weren’t short of things to do during our stay. Examples of some of the activities on offer at the hotel are: a sunrise walk, water aerobics, a sunset walk, a night market tour and movies on the beach at night. All of these activities are complimentary, although some require advance booking at reception. There was also a mini market, spa, fitness centre and hair salon all on site. Therefore, plenty to keep busy without even having to leave the resort. We spent the following day at the hotel, making use of the stunning private beach and infinity pool which also overlooked the beach. The sun loungers on the beach were also free of charge to use and we even had a porter circulate the beach loungers at 2 points during the day, offering complimentary fruit and cake to all the hotel guests.
After a very relaxing day by the pool and beach, we booked ourselves into the hotel restaurant ‘The Spice Market’ for the Indonesian dinner buffet and Balinese dance show that was being performed. This cost us 255000IDR per person (around £14) and considering the size of the buffet, this was pretty good value. There was so many dishes on offer. Gavin and I both got the opportunity to try new Indonesian food we had never experienced before, and lots of it! We ate until our stomachs were content (and well beyond) …And then had some dessert while watching the Balinese dance performers. It was a good atmosphere, fairly busy but not too overcrowded. Overall a very nice way for us the end such a relaxing day. The following morning was our last, we returned to the restaurant for inclusive buffet breakfast. Same as the night before, there was a huge selection of dishes on offer. This included an egg station, pancake station, pasta station, salad bar, fresh fruit smoothie bar and the usual selection of breads, pastries cereals and tea and coffee. There was also some traditional Indonesian style cooked breakfast which consisted of various meats, rice and noodles! There was definitely something on offer for everyone here.
After breakfast we went back to the room and got ourselves packed and ready for check out at 12pm. Upon checking out the staff booked a taxi for us back to the pier, they were very helpful and made our check out process smooth and easy.
Overall, I would recommend the Novotel Hotel to anyone looking to experience a bit of luxury on Lombok. With the hotel being situated right on Kuta beach, equipped with a beautiful infinity pool and an endless list of activities provided by the resort, Novotel Hotel Lombok can promise you the perfect vacation.
