Tango Beach Resort: Koh Samui.

Upon arriving at Tango Beach Resort the staff at reception greeted us straight away with a glass of water. It didn’t take long for them to find our booking and assist us with our luggage to the room! This kind of speedy service hasn’t been common for us throughout Asia. We have previously arrived at many hotels previously which have been unable to find our booking or required us to wait a good ten minutes while they click about on a computer so with this in mind, Tango Beach Resort was already off to a good start.

The room we were shown to was spacious, clean and very modernly designed. A selection of towels were neatly folded on our beds, this included two hair towels, bath towels and even a beach towel each aswell. We found that wasn’t the only extra amenity in the room. Others included: complimentary mosquito repellent location, shower caps, cotton buds, bottled water, tea and coffee making facilities and an ice bucket. This definitely exceeded more than just the standard hotel soap and shampoo we have experienced elsewhere.

After checking out the room, we wondered down to the back of the resort, through the resort restaurant, named ‘Lazy Wav’, and on to the beach. Our first impressions of the hotel restaurant were good. It was right on the beach, beautifully decorated with hanging lanterns and brightly coloured table cloths. However, after passing through a good few times and not seeing very many guests dinning there, we soon understood why. Looking at the menu, it is rather overpriced! There are another three restaurants literally next door, offering almost the exact same beach dinning atmosphere and a very similar menu for almost half the price. These were the restaurants that were always busy. For this reason, during our weeks stay here we did not dine at the resort and therefore cannot feedback directly on the food quality or service in the hotel restaurant.DSC01320
Instead we would walk down along the beach every night towards the main town centre of Chaweng and get food there or along the way. The heart of Chaweng is where all the nightlife is really at- about a 20 minute walk from Tango Beach Resort. For us, Tango Resort was in the perfect location as we felt that we were close enough to all the liveliness, but then also had a quiet location at night to come back to. This meant that we were never bothered by any drunks or loud music at night.

Overall, we throughly enjoyed our stay at Tango Beach Resort and would recommend it to anyone traveling to Koh Samui.
